From the first moment I saw the Extrema Ratio Nemesis I wanted to hold one. So I got a fake on DHgate early 2015 for just under 21$. Named after the Greek goddess of divine retribution and vengeance, this knife certainly is a formidable weapon!
The black anodized aluminium handles are nicely made and despite the angular looks they are very comfortable to hold providing a good grip in any position. With a handle length of over 15cm this knife can be used with the thickest gloves. Fit & finish is good, everything lines up perfectly with no sharp edges or points. The right & left side tip up only clip is massive and strong and lets about 23mm of the handle protrude from the seam. A generous lanyard hole is integrated into the glass breaker tip on the pommel of the knife.
The 6mm thick drop point blade is made of 440 steel, flat ground, 11cm long and came shaving sharp out of the box. Edge retention is quite good and it is easy to hone. The dual thumb studs make it easy to open and the blade moves smoothly, the very strong lock back engages with authority and there is no play in any direction. It take a significant amount of force to disengage the lock. When closed, the blade sits perfectly centered. There is an additional locking mechanism, when the pin is engaged the blade cannot be opened or closed.
Without any doubt, this fake is an awesome looking and feeling knife! With an overall length of 26 cm and a weight of 209 grams it is well into fixed blade territory. But because it has such a heavy blade made of 6mm stock, it doesn’t slice very well despite being very sharp. This knife was designed to be a weapon and that’s precisely what it is. With its size and weight it makes for a cumbersome EDC knife and I hardly use mine because it isn’t really good at anything except looking mean. But it makes for a conversation starter and it is a fun toy to play around with! I don’t regret the purchase because it was cheap but I wouldn’t buy it again.
