When I started to notice this knife on AE it was the jade scales that drew me to it, then I started to like the shape, the specs looked good too and the whole thing went for under 21$ so I took the plunge and ordered one. I think it is a copy of a Shirogorov design but I am not sure which one, except the D2 stamp on the blade there are no other markings.
The knife came shaving sharp out of the box and the action is very smooth, it was covered in oil and needed a thorough clean though. Fit & finish were flawless and those jade scales look even better in person. The handles are comfortable to hold in any position and the texture makes for a good grip wet or dry. I wish they gave some more thoughts to the clip, it is the only thing I don’t like about the knife, when cutting for several minutes at a timer the clip becomes uncomfortable in the palm as it digs in a little.
The flat ground blade has a satin finish and is advertised as D2. It holds the edge reasonably well and I find it easy to sharpen. The blade is well centered and has no play, lockup is solid and at about 40%. The Liner lock is easy to reach and disengage.
It's a shame that they use a proprietary screw on the pivot, but I managed to use a flat screwdriver very gently to manipulate the screw.
Another negative of this knife is its weight, at 178 grams I find it heavy for its size. I still carry it from time to time but it turned out to be one of the few knives that I just don’t gel with. Yes I love the jade scales, that’s what made me buy it in the first place but it just doesn’t do much for me in any other way. It is a well made knife I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone who likes this particular style but I wouldn’t buy it again.
