From what I can tell, it seems that Reate knives are ranked at the top of the Chinese knife makers and Kevin John for clone makers.
Since I am new to Chinese clones, how would you rank them?

I don't own a Reate or Kevin John but I have handled both brands. I would agree that Reate is currently the top brand of Chinese made knives as far as design, materials and finish go. Kizer is another Chinese brand that makes high quality original designs albeit at a much lower cost. Kevin John seems to focus on copying high end knives and they are very well made but they cost way more than what i am willing to spend on a knife nowadays. There is also a budget line of Kevin John branded knives in the 25 to 50 dollar range but these might be fakes of the fakes, it's hard to tell.

I forgot about Kizer and Real Steel for their own designs.
Here is how I would rank in original and clones:
1 - Reate 2 - Rike 3- Kizer 4 - Real Steel
1 - Kevin John 2 - Green Thorn 3 - Dai 4 - Wild Boar 5 - ?

Rike should be on that list too, one of the best! A Dai and Wild Boar for quality fakes. I would not be surprised if there are several manufacturers producing the same knives at different price points. The fake Whaleshark for example can be had from anywhere between 45 and 175 dollars and the only difference I can make out is a zipper pouch the more expensive ones come with.

Didn't know about Rike knives. Please feel free to change any order of the knife companies.

Look them up, those Rike's are very nice blades in the next price range above Reate. But at some point the "best" becomes a very subjective matter that cannot be put into a definitive order.

I would also add Carson Tech Labs, CH knives, MG Knives, Stedemon (with ZKC), BAT (mainly OTF knives), Common Lancehead, Maxace, and CKF There are also other small brands, like Liang Jiang and "7", but not a lot of knives came from there.
