After I bought several Twosun knives and being extremely happy with the quality and design of that brand, I decided to buy this TS20 from AE. At just under 40$, this knife was about double the price of the other Twosuns but it comes with Titanium scales and ball bearings and I really liked the Kwaiken design of it so I decided to have it anyway. And like with my previous Twosun purchases, I was glad I did buy it!
What struck me when I first held the knife is that it seems such a small knife. But at an overall length of 20cm it clearly isn’t, it just appears so because of how slim and compact it is when closed. The blade completely disappears inside the handle and only the flipper protrudes, it is a thing of beauty. At 115 grams it is also very light. The handle is all titanium with a frame lock, there is no steel insert for the lock. Fit and finish are impeccable and I love the simplistic design very much. The Titanium on one side is beautifully textured and everything is put together perfectly, the knife oozes quality. The grip is excellent and safe without any hot spots. The Clip is right side tip up only, 20mm of the handle protrude from the pockets seam. No lanyard hole.
The 3.5mm thick tanto blade is 8.7cm long, made of 9Cr18MoV steel and flat ground. Despite the tanto grind, the edge has a very slight belly giving the knife a beautiful downward arch when opened. The flipper is quick, the blade flies out lightning fast and thanks to the ball bearings the action is ultra smooth. The frame lock is rock solid, there is zero play in any direction and the closed blade is perfectly centered. The TS20 came shaving sharp out of the box and has retained its edge very well so far. With its lean blade the knife cuts and slices like a champion and the tanto tip pierces very well too.
By now it is clear that I really love this knife and I could go on forever with praise. If I ever needed a sign of the shape of things to come from Chinese knife makers this would be it. A stunning design incredibly well executed all under 40$ boggles my mind. It has become one of my all time favorite EDC’s and I would buy it again for 100$.
