I don't pay much attention to fixed blades but occasionally i see one that stirs my interest. The Fake Lionstel M3 was one of those knives. I simply loved the shape and design of it so I bought it on AE for 25$.
The knife was delivered without a box or paperwork in a leather sheath. It is a close copy of the original but easy to spot as a fake, the screws are different from the original as are details of the woodwork on the scales. It bears the Lionsteel logo on the blade and the sheath.
The blade stock is made of 5mm thick 7Cr17Mov and the knife looks and feels very nice. With 280 grams it on the heavy side for its size but it is managable and inspires confidence. The flat grind is done flawlessly and the blade takes a very keen edge. Depending on what you use it for, it also loses said edge quickly. However, often a couple of strops will be all that's neded for more clean cutting.
The handle is made from unspecified wood and is stained. Compared to the original, the edges are more angular but still very comfortable with a good grip with wet hands. The screws are sunk perfectly and the overall finish is impeccable. The jimping could have a bit more bite but it works.
The knife comes with a pretty and well-made leather sheath for belt carry that secures the knife with a push button. When locked, the knife doesn't move at all yet it draws with minimal friction.
I admit that I bought the knife purely for its aesthetic appeal but since then it has proven a useful companion outdoors. Though I never missed it before, I would miss it now and not only for how much I like to look at it.
