Another Twosun knife I bought on AE that surprised me with its unique design and stunning quality for less than 20$. Neither the seller’s pictures nor description had me prepared for the size and weight but also for the looks and feel of this knife. At 286 grams and 22.5 cm length it is a serious slab of stainless steel! But despite all the length and weight, the knife is only 9mm thick.
The fluting on the stainless steel handles is beautifully machined and the slabs and clip are finished in a unique way that I have never seen before. It seems to be a stonewashed finish but there is also a coating that makes it look like titanium. The frame lock is cut with precision and there is not a sharp point or unfinished edge anywhere on this knife. The back spacer is a piece of solid stainless steel that has jimping for added grip, it extends beyond the handles to form a glass breaker tip with lanyard hole. The ergonomics are great and the knife is comfortable to hold in any position. The pocket clip is right side tip up only, clipped inside a pocket, 33mm of the handle protrude from the seam.
The drop point blade is 9Cr18MoV and full flat ground. When I unboxed the knife, the action was gritty and it needed cleaning and adjustment before the ball bearing action became smooth and the flipper worked as expected. Opened, there is zero play and closed the blade is perfectly centered. The frame lock is rock solid but lock stick was dramatic in the beginning, it might have had something to do with that coating mentioned above but in any case it got much better. The detent is strong and makes flipping easy. Out of the box the knife was very sharp, it is easy to hone with decent edge retention. With only 2.9mm thickness on the spine the blade is thin enough to make this a very good slicer despite its size.
I use this knife at work cutting rubber and plastic, rope, stripping wires, slicing bags, scraping, light prying and similar tasks.
The fact that this knife needed some adjustments and cleaning before working as expected doesn't bother me and other peoples purchases might have been perfect out of the box. But if you are into large folders and don't mind doing some basic work on a knife, you might enjoy this knife just as much as I do, I would certainly buy it again!
