I find myself going in a certain direction as I look for a new knife to buy. Thought maybe you have a certain criteria you use. What ya think? Do you have a list? 1. Tactical folder. 2. Handles must match on both sides. 3. Pocket clip. 4. Minimum of a 3" blade. 5. Easy one hand opening which leads me mostly to spring assisted. 6. No seat belt cutter. If the knife won't cut a seatbelt with the blade, I don't need it. 7. I prefer a rather subdued, bad a@@ looking knife rather that a wild fantasy design. 8. I prefer metal handles but I guess I have gone about 50% synthetic or metal.
These are my own preferences and many may have different views, but that is what makes this hobby/addiction so much fun. I do break my own rules on occasion. LOL. Mike

My taste and preference for specific styles of knives seems to be constantly shifting. Let's see what you are into one year from now

And with so much choice it's good times to try new things. I remember when the frame locks became more common i detested the look, now at least half of my folders have a frame lock.

Mike I won't start on the Tactical part of number 1. Overused, I won't buy a thing if they call it Tactical. Including underwear and toilet paper. I like handles that are textured in G10 or similar. I like more grip in a fighting knife. Though in reality I would rather have a fixed blade on me for that job. I find it quite easy to find a knife that I can open without any assist. I am not a fan of assisted knives. I don't think I own one anymore. Oh yeah the wife has a Kershaw Leek. She like it so I keep my mouth shut. Seat belt cutters. I agree, if the knife can't cut a seat belt on it's own, I highly doubt a seat belt cutter would do any better. I give those types of knifes to people I don't like. I like a Tanto blade. I don't know why. I just do. Or maybe a beefy drop point. Don't know the state laws where you live but, if you are able, try a few fixed blades as well. They make some really reliable and well built blades. One of my favorites is that HX Outdoors fixed blade. They have a few that are kinda ugly but, their standard fixed blade with no crazy design is one of my favorites. Explorer D2 I think it's called. I made a few minor mods to the sheath and now I carry it horizontally in the small of my back.

Sounds like you will be looking at a liner lock or frame lock knife. Any preference of a maker? Non-clone or clone?
